For post mounting, hex bolts are generally preferred to the use of lags. Available in a variety of lengths to accommodate your chosen post dimensions and framing. Made out of 304 Grade Stainless Steel.

Use Stainless Steel Grade 304 for most applications.
Use Stainless Steel Grade 316 for more corrosive environments, such as those near the ocean and/or where deicer is regularly used.
Use Stainless Steel Grade 2507 for especially corrosive environments, such as on the beach or next to a pool.
