We currently offer four wood species for posts and/or top rails. Our
Ipe Brazillian Walnut Top Rails are
responsibly harvested from the rainforests of Brazil, promoting sustainable practices while providing you with this lovely, durable railing option. Enjoy the richness of Ipe's deep red color and knot-less grain, while adding an exotic twist to your property.
Our exclusive line of
Balau Mahogany top rails and posts offer similar strength and a comparable color, but stand apart due to their engineered strength. This wood is responsibly harvest by our suppliers in Asia and the Pacific, who pick only the finest specimens of superior species. The wood is then kiln dried and uniquely engineered for additional strength and resistance to checking and splitting, resulting in an exceptionally durable, and consistently beautiful, end product.
We also carry
Western Red Cedar, a construction classic for thousands of years here in North America due to its natural resistance to moisture, insects, and general wear. This sturdy, durable wood option offers a lighter color than Ipe and Batu, and is available as clear (knot-free) top rail or tight-knot posts. The posts we carry are called Quattro™Posts, which are harvested in Canada and engineered by SynergyPacific to be even stronger and more builder-friendly than they already naturally are.
The newest addition to our wood catalog is
Alaskan Yellow Cedar. Combining delicate coloration and incredibly fine grain with an unexpected high density, this wood is as structurally strong as it is visibly fair. In addition to common constructions such as bridges, boats, and decks, Alaskan Yellow Cedar is also often used for specialty constructions, such as temples and shrines. This unique wood species provides the perfect accent for a striking cable railing.
Our railings are highly configurable. Mix wood varieties or combine a wood top rail with one of our metal posts:
ALUMINUM,
ROUND STAINLESS STEEL, or
SQUARE STAINLESS STEEL. Consult our
Wood Installation Instructions and
Special Terms for Wood Orders for more information on wood products and applications.
We recognize the importance of the long term investment our customers make when choosing our products.
